Compare Your Life ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at compareyourlife.com. We collect the minimum information needed to render birth-date-anchored content and to operate and improve the service. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for cross-site advertising.

• Date of birth. When you enter a date of birth, we store it in encrypted form together with a one-way fingerprint used for lookup. The plaintext date is not stored or shared with third-party analytics.
• Anonymous identifier. A first-party cookie holds a random identifier so the next visit picks up where you left off. The cookie is paired with a security signature to prevent tampering.
• Optional attributes. If you choose to share them, we keep your sex, country, time of birth, or city to tailor the cards you see. You can clear these at any time.
• Email (only if you subscribe). If you sign up for a digest, we store an encrypted copy of your email plus a fingerprint used to deduplicate. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• Interaction events. We may record anonymous events (a card opened, a slider changed) tied to the anonymous identifier, never to your date of birth or email.
• Standard request data. Approximate country, browser type, and request timestamps are kept for security, rate-limiting, and abuse prevention.

We use a small number of first-party cookies for functionality and security: an anonymous identifier (~13 months), its security signature (HttpOnly), and a short-lived bot-detection cookie set by our security provider. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

• To render personalised content based on your date of birth.
• To remember your settings and preferences across visits.
• To send digests and account messages, if you subscribed.
• To detect abuse, prevent bots, and keep the service available.
• To measure anonymous usage so we can improve the product.

We use a small set of vendors to operate the service. Each one sees only the minimum information needed for its job. The categories are:

• Cloud hosting and database providers.
• Email delivery service (only when you subscribe).
• Bot-detection and security service.
• Anonymous product analytics service.
• Error monitoring service.
• Generative-AI service used to categorise public reference data and to draft outbound social-media posts. No user data is sent.
• Social media platforms — only for outbound publishing from our own brand accounts. No user data is sent.

A current list of named providers is available on request via the contact email below.

• Anonymous profiles with no date of birth submitted are removed after about 30 days of inactivity.
• Anonymous profiles with a date of birth or attributes are removed after about 18 months of inactivity.
• Anonymous interaction events are removed after about 180 days.
• Email-send logs are kept for about 18 months for deliverability auditing.
• Subscriber records are kept until you unsubscribe, then deleted.

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act / CPRA), you may have the right to:

• Access the information we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Request deletion.
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Withdraw consent for any optional processing at any time.
• Lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority in your jurisdiction.

We do not sell your personal information, do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and do not use it to make consequential automated decisions about you.

We operate from servers in the United States and United Kingdom and via globally distributed content-delivery edges. By using the service from outside those locations you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in them, with safeguards equivalent to those required by your local law.

The service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify subscribers by email.
